INTERFERENCES #1 | Daniel Buren. That is why the original, marginal and solitary attitude developed by western artists as a result of more than a century-old tradition needs to be called into question by the artists themselves, if they really do want to take to the streets. The thing an artist can do in a system of complicity (the Museum) even when the environment is hostile become much less simple in an unprepared system (the street), even if there are those who may provide support. The street is not hometerritory. At best, it is a territory to be tamed, to do which you need other weapons than those forged over the century in the sometimes complacent habits of the museum. |
