![]() LALTRA ROMA IMMAGINI DEUROPA an event organised by WORK|OUT and the Roman artist group Complot S.Y.S.tem on the 13th of October at the Goethe Institut in Rome. | The guests who took part in the event were Alberto Abruzzese, professor of Sociology of Mass Communication, Prof. Giorgio Muratore who, in his writings, has strongly criticised the Roman city planning policy, the artist and architect Massimiliano Fuksas, Amedeo Schiattarella, president of the Roman Chartered Insitute of Architecture, Professor Vito Bucciarelli, dean of the Milanese Faculty of Sculpture in the Academy of Fine Arts Brera, the Editor of the German magazine Bauwelt, Sebastian Redecke, who travelled to Rome to take part in this event, and the marvellous Massimo Mazzone, artist and university teacher. L'altra Roma was founded by the Roman artist group, Complot S.Y.S Tem. Their initiative and ideas were a huge incentive for sponsors to support us and make sure that this day could become an artistic and cultural event. When you entered the building, the first thing you could see was the installation of a virtual city Complot City at a scale of 1:200 made out of books, tapes etc. as an allegory of the senses, body and palpable culture in a metropolis which is concrete yet unbearable for living. The speech of Sebastian Redecke on three Berlin squares, their change and sense from an architectural point of view, broke the ice for the 300 listeners. Experimental videos on the subject of city and art prepared by Roman and German university students followed. The talk-show in the garden, drinking wine and eating pasta (in the shape of a museum, an allegorical protest prepared by Fausto Grossi from Bilbao against the censorship trial of the Guggenheim Museum) lasted till dawn and it ended, typical for an uninhabitable metropolis like Rome, in thousands of conversations. |
