During the European Youth Media Days 2007 WORK|OUT 14 invited young journalists to discuss and write about their different cultural perspectives as European citizens. Peripatetic, like Aristotle, they discovered Brussels, the “European capital”.

THE PARTICIPANTS




1) PRZEMYSŁAW PRĘTKIEWICZ, 19, from Pruszków, Poland, is taking European studies at the University of National Defence in Warsaw, and also writing articles for an online sports website and hoping to be a journalist in the future.

2) CARMEN PAUN, 21, works for Campaign Magazine Romania. She studies journalism, relations and advertising at the University of Bucharest.

3) MALOU WILLEMARS, 25, is a Dutch journalist who keeps wondering about her profession. After being a reporter for years, she started a PhD-reseach on the interculturality of journalism and the freedom of speech.

4) ANNA SAMEL, 21, studies European and culture studies at Warsaw University, Poland. She is specialised in intercultural projects and creates websides. She loves the colour blue and adores working with youth.

5) MILDA CELIEŠIŪTĖ, 23, brand new (just graduated) journalist from Vilnius, Lithuania. She is working for Lithuanian weekly magazine Veidas and promoting life-style: “We can always talk for 15 minutes more”.

6) KARL-HEINZ KLOPPISCH, 27, is in Berlin the Editor-in-Chief of WORK|OUT. He was coordinating this workshop.

7) MEHIS PÄRNAMETS, 19, from Viljandi in Estonia, works as a news writer at a local newspaper. Studies journalism and public relations in the University of Tartu.

8) DELPHINE REUTER, 22, has just got her degree in journalism in Brussels. Travelling is her passion. She has recently been to Turkey to report on the pipeline BTC and its side effects on locals. She collaborates with various francophone newspapers and for the online European magazine Point-E.

9) TARA MC DONNELL, 21, is an Irish student, who is just after completing her first year in journalism and visual media at Griffith College Dublin, after previously studying art and photography.

10) ROLAND GRATZER, 21, is a writer, artist, film critic and official media gland of Monochrom (www.monochrom.at). Recurring topics: progressive theater, media theory, popular culture studies, guerrilla media tactics, metaphorics and exaggerations in short bios.

11) ANA FILIPA NUNES, 25, is a journalist who works at a private TV station in Lisbon, Portugal. Nunes has a five year bachelor degree in mass communication from the Portuguese Catholic University.

12) LAURA MALLENE, 18, is a young Estonian journalist. She works for the Viljandi County daily newspaper Sakala and is going to study journalism and public relations in the University of Tartu next autumn. One day she wants to be an almighty journalist and have a motorbike.

13) NICOLAS LANDRU, 25, is an editor at the online magazine www.caucaz.com, a European media based in the South-Caucasus. He is the magazine’s coordinator for Georgia.

14) NATASHA SÁ OSÓRIO, 21, is a journalism graduate from the University of Westminster in London. She is experienced in radio, print media and is looking forward to starting an exciting career within the media industry.

15) MATTEO DE SIMONE is a 20 years old student of literature at the University of Bologna. Editor and cartoonist for local and students newspapers, in 2005 he started his collaboration with WORK|OUT and youthweek.eu.

16) TINO BRÖMME, 36, has founded WORK|OUT in 1999 and is its European project manager. He did the editing and layout of this special edition.
