Intelligent people need money
FORMICA FUNCIONAL
La Biennale di Archittetura di Venezia and Formica Corporation reward the best project with a 3-month scholarship: The project to be developed will be a floating building that will serve as the Biennale Architecture Workshop which can navigate between the cities of Venice and Palermo. The project proposed must organize and detail the activity and daily life of 25 students, five professors, and five crew members, who will work and live in it during the Exhibition, and must be developed using FormicaŽ products as the main material. Students in the final two years of architectural courses or young graduate architects under 35 years of age from Spain, Portugal and Italy may participate in the contest, with a maximum of 2 people per team.

BEACH HOUSES
This Design Challenge challenges entrants to address architectural, structural, functional, cultural, and environmental issues in the design of a beach house and amphitheatre. The proposed facility will be located adjacent to one of Chicago’s busiest marinas, therefore the design should be sensitive to the context and activities surrounding this location.

KLAVIER UND VIOLINE
Auch 2007 vergibt die Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz wieder den Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Preis an begabte, fortgeschrittene Studierende der deutschen Musikhochschulen. Traditioneller Austragungsort ist die UdK Berlin. Anmelden können sich regulär immatrikulierte Studierende unter 30. Die Stiftung verleiht zwei Preise zu je 3600 Euro.

CORUS AWARD
By taking part in this competition you will have the chance to explore the complex issues surrounding the theme of how to live with rising water levels and the ever-present threat of flood. The competition is open to students of architecture in Europe. The challenge is to design a housing type, utilising steel, for a mixed community, with an unpredictable water level, or which is permanently on the water.

MEHR ALS STATIK
Zum sechsten Mal wird der Eberhard-Schöck-Preis vergeben. Universitäten und Fachhochschulen sind aufgerufen, preiswürdige Diplomarbeiten jeweils bis zum 30. November eines Jahres einzureichen. Jährlich werden bis zu drei Arbeiten mit einem Preisgeld in Höhe von 2500 Euro ausgezeichnet.

INFINITE STRIP 2006
ARQUITECTUM is pleased to welcome all architects from around the world to its 2nd Conceptual Contest, that takes place from July until December. The program will be defined by each participant and will form part of the proposal — as well as the evaluation — but must at least include the following basic areas to be considered a housing unit: Social spaces: A place to gather, Private spaces: Bedrooms, lounges, etc. and Service spaces: Spaces for eating as well as multiple restrooms.

A SMALL SUSTAINABLE SPORTS CENTRE
Competitors are asked to design a small sustainable sports centre that will serve as a focus for a poor community. Entrants can choose a site from within their own region, but this is not mandatory. It can be located in a rural or an urban context. The architectural response to the site will be amongst the criteria for judging the competition. Whatever the design approach, entrants should consider a building that requires minimal maintenance and one that is easy to manage and operate.

SCHINKEL-WETTBEWERB
Der 152. Schinkel-Wettbewerb 2007 steht ganz unter dem Motto „Vom Bahnhofsvorplatz zum Lehrter Stadtviertel“ um den Raum um den neuen Berliner Hauptbahnhof endlich mal vernünftig zu nutzen. Insgesamt sind rund 50 ha frei oder kurzfristig verfügbar. Auf den ehemaligen Eisenbahnbetriebsflächen bieten sich vielfältige Potenziale.

HELP CARLSBERG
Carlsberg A/S invites all urban designers, architects, designers, engineers, artists, architects students etc. to take part in an open international idea competition for a development plan for Carlsberg in Copenhagen. At the end of 2008, Carlsberg Breweries will discontinue its beer production on the site in Copenhagen where the brewery was founded, leaving behind a 33-hectare area. It is up to you to create a vibrant city district on this site. The competition is also open for all firms, architects, urban planners, designers, engineers, artists, architects students etc.
The competition will run from 1 November 2006 to 28 February 2007.

VULKANPLATZ
Schon mal in Zürich gewesen? Auf der Nordseite des Bahnhofs Altstetten beabsichtigt die Stadt, die Endschlaufe des „Tram Zürich-West“ zu realisieren. Gemeinsam mit der SBB Immobilien wurde deshalb ein Projektwettbewerb ausgeschrieben, um Gestaltungsvorschläge für die Realisierung des zukünftigen Vulkanplatzes zu erhalten.

JARDINS MOBILES
À l’occasion du 16ème Festival international des Jardins de Chaumont-sur-Loire, le Conservatoire International des Parcs et Jardins et du Paysage propose un concours international sur 26 parcelles d’environ 210m2. Thème du concours 2007: Mobiles! Des jardins pour un monde en mouvement. Le dossier de consultation, comprenant un cahier des charges et un règlement, sera disponible sur demande à partir du 1er septembre 2006.
